Sharjah Islamic Bank has been announced winner of the 8th annual Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award in the Financial Services category. The bank won the award for a third time in recognition of its outstanding efforts in achieving corporate excellence in 2014.
HE Ahmed Saad, Deputy CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, received the award during the award presentation ceremony organised by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Madinat Jumeirah Arena on the 27th of this month .
In his statement on the occasion, HE Mohammed Abdullah said, “This win highlights Sharjah Islamic Bank’s continued efforts to deliver the highest standards of service, in line with our commitment to steer our business towards supporting the national economy and developing community. Sharjah Islamic Bank previously won this award in 2009 and 2010, but the 8th edition win is different as it is at the GCC level, giving the accolade a regional dimension. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry for giving us with this award.”
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award embraces all GCC businesses in the journey of business excellence, recognising and celebrating the success of organisations who are leading the way in establishing new business excellence standards, and whose continuous and outstanding achievements serve as an inspiration for all like-minded organisations across the GCC.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award aims to promote a competitive business environment and encourages firms to adopt the best practices in their sectors by addressing the challenges faced by companies and institutions. It also allows them to self-assess and compare themselves with the best global business practices and provides them with a detailed report about their overall performance including their strengths and weaknesses.
The 8th edition of the award has seen a 12.5% growth in the number of participating companies in comparison with the previous edition.
Held annually under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award (MRM Business Award) is an initiative of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a winner of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme in 2007. The award aims to support business development and to recognise and reward firms that contribute to the UAE’s economic development.
In May 2015, Sharjah Islamic Bank also won Best Interactive Voice Response at the Insights Middle East Call Centre Awards after competing with 522 companies. In April 2015, Sharjah Islamic Bank won Best Islamic Bank in the Sukuk Structuring category of the Arab Banking Excellence and Achievement Awards, in recognition of its achievements in the Islamic banking sector in the Middle East.
